Theory is an attempt to explain the natural world.. It is NOT the end-all, and in many cases has absolutely nothing to do with reality.

Prior to the sound barrier being broken by Chuck Yeager, many theorists said that it was unbreakable... that any craft would disintegrate.. A century earlier, theorists said that the human body could not take speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour. So much for theory.

Anyway, go to the museum of natural history and see some dinosaur fossils and bones. Many are thin on one end, much much thicker in the middle and thin again on the other end. I guess this is not a theory, but a statement of practical fact.
