Are you trying to normalize relations and you don't know what a functional dependency is?

Either you are a troll or the course you are taking sucks.

Anyway, you can read about functional dependencies in any (serious) book that covers the basics of databases, like C. J. Date's "An Introduction to Database Systems".

Or for a short intro you can do a Google search. You will find several references. You can start with this:
