As far as theory goes, you'd better hope that your target database is
(mostly) information equivalent to your source database. Then all you
need to do is find the relational queries that will transform your
normalised (ha!) source database to your normalised (ha!) target database,
with the aid of any extra 'mapping' relations you might need to translate
source domains into target domains.
I'm sure the designers of the new database took this into account ...
If not, normalise both data models, then shout loudly at the designers when you find that they have very little in common.
