The I think you will get very good overall value from the following two books:
DATABASE MANAGEMENT: Concepts, Design, and Practice
Esen Ozkarahan
ISBN 0-13-46812-4
CASE*Method Entity Relationship Modeling
Richard Barker
ISBN 0-201-41696-4
I especially like the Ozkarahan book as it covers modeling
issues for IMS and DBTG systems as well as relational ones.
