Hi friends

I am really into a problem...and would be grateful to get a help from anybody....

To start with...

I have some tables on someone else's pc on Oracle 8i...

Now i exported my tables from there...and came back home with the dmp file...

I have oracle 8

when i imported it gave the error :-

Connected to: Oracle8 Personal Edition Release 8.0.4.0.0 - Production PL/SQL Release 8.0.4.0.0 - Production

Import file: EXPDAT.DMP >

IMP-00002: failed to open EXPDAT.DMP for read IMP-00021: operating system error - error code (dec 2, hex 0x2) Import file: EXPDAT.DMP > a:\expdat.dmp

Enter insert buffer size (minimum is 4096) 30720> 30720

Export file created by EXPORT:V08.01.07 via conventional path IMP-00069: Could not convert to environment national character set's handle
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

Now i have gone exhaustively through many of the threads in this group with similar probs...and came to know...that the problem is of backward compatibility.....

Actually....i want to get my tables from this file only....WITHOUT exporting again...from that PC....coz i'll be going there after a week...and till then...my work will hang up...

And someone told me that it can somehow be done using objects in VB....is it possible ?

And if it's not possible in any case and I have to export again only....then please suggest the different possible ways of exporting from 8i(from that pc) so that i can freely import it to 8....coz i am not clear with this....

Thanks in ad
