Space Problem

Hi all ,
I am facing some strange issue here.
Oracle Apps 11.5.5
Oracle Database 8.1.7.1 (32 Bit) on HP-UX 11.0 (64 Bit)
While monitoring space growth I am observing Index tablespaces are growing at higher pace than corresponding Data tablespaces. e.g.
AR_Data Tablespace Avg Growth 1.8 MB per day AR_Ind Tablespace Avg Growth 3 MB per day.
I have noticed from dba_tablespaces that PCT_INCREASE is 50 for all tablespaces. Is it default ? So all objects must have been created with same parameter. What if I change this ?
