guys ,

i have an instance A [ 8.1.6 ] on win2k server. it is not configured for MTS.
instance A is accessed thro a web .

if A goes down , i want the application to gracefully switchover to another instance B.
B is not existing now ? should B be a stand by DB or should it be in OPS or FailSafe ...?

all i want is a simple high availability solution . oracle has Replication,stand-by,OPS,FailSafe, transaprent application failover (TAF).... as HA solutions.
i read that TAF works with Replication,stand-by and OPS config.

my DB is of size 20G. it is not a 24/7 DB . weekly 2 hrs downtime is acceptable.
it is a OLTP system.

Considering my DB size and availability : which one would best suit my requirement ? what are th pre-requisites for this ?
where can i get some good docs for HA solutions ?

Guide me plz. Received on Fri Aug 23 2002 - 07:14:31 CEST
