Parallel Server and Oracle9i RAC - who actually uses this ?

Which companies out there are currently using Oracle8i parallel
server, or Oracle9i RAC ? How many concurrent transactions do you
have ? Are they usually long transactions ? taking minutes to
complete ? What powerful machines are you using ? CPUs, MB or GB
RAM, disk array ?
We are currently using Oracle on Sun solaris 8. I would like to plan
out a "natural" growth progression for my company's use of Oracle 9i
and Sun Hardware.
Any recommendations is appreciated.
