then use the function in a select statement
SELECT a,b,my_sum(a,b)
The function that you create has to have certain purity levels
depending on the clause in which you want to use it.
There are 4 purity levels.
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION my_sum(p_a number,p_b number)
RETURN NUMBER as
begin
return p_a + p_b;
end;
FROM x;

purity levels.
