ORA-1031 FOLLOWED BY ORA-1003 ERROR PLEASE HELP

Hi,
We are developing a large transactional (xa, tuxedo) system that is behaving very strangely.
The program will run just fine for some time, then suddenly an
ORA-1031 is thrown by one of the execution paths. From there on in
every time that path is repeated it will throw an ORA-1003. Then as
misteriously as it appears the error goes away. I suspect someone is
playing with permissions as the 1031 is without exception the first
error thrown.
Could there be another explanation?
Has anyone seen something similar?
