Slow logins to Oracle

Hi,

We are currently using Oracle 8i on Solaris and are experiencing very slow logins when connecting from perl via DBD/DBI.

Devel::Timer Report -- Total time: 26.3013 secs Interval Time Percent

---

00 -> 01 15.0024 57.04% INIT -> start db query 01 -> 02 11.2990 42.96% start db query -> end db query

The sql query is very simple and queries a view. Running the query at the command line via sqlplus returns in less than 2 secs.

Any help or pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated.
