OCI support for 9i?

Does anyone have any information regarding OCI API support in 9i? I'm curious about whether 9i uses the 8i OCI API or if there's a newer version? Also, does Oracle have any plans to desupport the OCI 7 API?

I've looked around Metalink but can't seem to locate many specifics on this topic.
