oracle on linux and webpshere on win nt

How do i create connectivity between a database(oracle) and
Application Sever(websphere) on win nt4.0 which are both on diffrent
os's
eg a servlet on websphere request a record from oracle on linux.
How do they communicate when there is no dns server how do the
connectivity take place, has any one got a url from such distribution
of database and display layer sperated by diffrent database.
