Go for 8i. If you can pass 8i, you know 8. As far as Sybex's book, I may
be a little biased since I worked on the Virtual Test Center for them, but
they are excellent. You may also want to check out Oracle DBA 101 by
Marlene Theriault and Rachel Carmichael. It's not exactly geared toward
certification, but it's an excellent foundations book.
