I have a similar configuration using Oracle 8.04 and 8.1.6 on HP/UX. I would use the Oracle SqlNet client on your webserver as opposed to Net8. A number of MSDN articles specify a Sqlnet client as opposed to Net 8 and I have had good luck with this configuration (No reboot for 2 months on IIS box housing 2 sites)
