Connection Timeout behind a firewall!!!

After connected a firewall to the Network. Client connected to a database outside the intranet will break connection just idle for a few minutes. It seems the probe cannot determine the connection is alive. Could someone pls let me now if I need to release some services from the firewall or some setting in database to fix this problem. Thanks.
