Our client has a immediate need for a Software Engineer that is open to 50-60% travel! Due to the amount of travel and skill set desired, salary will be commensurate with experience (in other words, a lot!).
Job Description:
A combined business and technical consulting position. Applying our advanced
software products, help retailers analyze and “mine” their point of sale
data to discover new business opportunities. Key interface to our customers
responsible for:
-End-user consulting, training and support
-Tailoring of database design and reports to meet customer needs
-Management of customer software installation and customization
-Assistance with business interpretation of query results
-Project management and on-going client support
-Pre-sale consulting and proof-of-concept delivery
-Defining of product enhancements; involvement with development staff to
incorporate new features
-Prototype training and documentation; coordination with documentation staff
Desired Experience:
7 - 15 years relevant business experience in one or more of the following
industries: retail/retail distribution, consumer packaged goods, marketing,
retail finance, data warehousing, business information systems. Experience
in use and implementation of comprehensive business software solutions,
decision support, database management systems, business process
re-engineering, ERP or large-scale analytic systems is a huge plus.
Comprehensive knowledge of spread-sheet tools, SQL, statistical data
analysis, and multi-dimensional analysis. Familiarity with specialized DBMS
(such as Teradata, Oracle, DB2/PE, UDB). Competent in relational database
design. Experience with VLDB applications. Knowledge of MicroStrategy or
other OLAP tools desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work with end-users, customers, and development staff in definition of complex applications. Strong analytical, project management, and training skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Educational Background:
Masters in Business/Management, Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics,
Operations Management, or other technical degree.
Location:
This position is field-based and requires extensive travel. Residence in
Austin, TX is preferred but not required. The client will support virtual
home office arrangements allowing employees to choose their home base
location; proximity to a major airport required.
One position with minimal travel is available in Chicago.
