ProC error

I'm attempting to create a functional Oracle server 8.0.5 database on
Linux Red Hat 5.2.
Compiling with ProC produces an error message:
PCC-F-NOERRFILE, unable to open error message file, facility PR2.
This error occurs for all users, on all files (including sample files).
Does anyone know where this error message file is or is trying to be created, or how I can get rid of this error?
