UK/Dublin-Senior RDBMS Consultant.

My client is urgently looking for key members to join a highly challenging, specialist Database Management team within their Professional Services practice. This is a broad based role offering involvement from response to proposals to conception to high level design to hands-on development and implementation of major high-availability database solutions for "Blue Chip" clients. A strong feature of this group is its' ability to provide quality consulting and integration expertise.

This group values experience, therefore the emphasis is on high calibre candidates with at least 5 years relevant experience gained either within a major vendor or the IT department of a multi-national. Your experience will include a thorough understanding of the design, build and implementation of a major RDBMS and the principles of High Availability relating to them. Extensive platform level knowledge of large scale servers, installation and configuration of Unix systems with system level knowledge of kernel concepts performance tuning etc; general Unix skills to include naming services, file systems management, back-up and storage, and utilities (shell programming, awk, sed, vi).

Specialist knowledge of Veritas File System, Volume Manager or Solstice DiskSuite will be highly advantageous as will Clustering techniques (Sun Cluster HA toolsets). Finally the right candidate will be customer focussed with superior customer facing skills with the ability to listen, determine needs and apply technical solutions.

Eligibility for these positions is dependent upon applicants' ability to live and work in the EU or UK without restriction as our clients often cannot sponsor.
