!RECOVERY FILE LOST....

I run an ORACLE 8 and i have a big problem with the redo files:

I run an ORACLE 8 and i have a big problem with the redo files:
when i run the recoveri database command, i get a message that say the log
file doesn't contain the sequence needed to rebuild the database structure
and ends with the following message:
warning: RECOVER succeded but OPEN RESETLOGS would get error below file 1
was not restored from a sufficiently old backup.
there is a way to recover the database or i have to install all again?
