Dear fellow,

    You don't have to buy SQL*net, it comes with Oracle.     You'll first install SQL*net on both the client and server computers, you'll also need Oracle ODBC driver, this can be downloaded from Oracle's homesite, install the Oracle ODBC driver on the client computer and then use the ODBC administrator to define a data source for your client use.

    It's not an easy job, be careful with the versions of SQL*net, ODBC driver and ODBC administrator software you're using. Some versions cannot work together.
