How do I write a flat file from a trigger?

I have a request from a manager to dump a table into a flat file on his unix machine whenever anthing in that table is changed. This seems a bit backwards to me, but mine is not to reason why. How do I do that. I tried using a "spool" and a "select" in the trigger, but it will not compile.
