I developed an application using Borland C++ 5.01 Developer's Suite. When testing began on our wide-area network, it quickly became apparent that some of the data archiving methods I'm using are simply too bandwidth intensive, and are affecting performance of the application.

My company has an Oracle database in place, and since my data set is already structured where I could easily fit it into a database format, the suggestion was made to use the database instead of the main file server.

After doing some research, I have located several programming tools that claim to be able to interface with Oracle, but it appears that they all use custom dialog controls to access data. This is inadequate to my needs.

The program needs to be able to perform the queries itself, behind the scenes. This will not be a simple form with fields for the user to fill in, it will generate charts and allow the user to manipulate them. It will also collect data from external gauges and input that into the database.

Can it be done? What tools would be helpful?

Thanks for your time...
