install error ora-03113

I get a page fault when trying to install oracle 7.3 on my win95 machine. It used to work fine. The error occurs when the install reaches the starter database initialization. The build log indicates ora-03113 'end of communication channel'. Very strange. Does anybody have any ideas ?
