Programmer/Analyst (Northern Virginia)

Will be responsible for maintaining and supporting common information systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of financial and distribution information. Develop enhancements to existing systems to provide greater flexibility and functionality based on user requirements. Gathers and manages user requests and assists in priority definition. Provides direction and specifications to programming resources. Involved in system implementation from the development phase to the distribution of software. Will be instrumental in the preparation of feasibility studies and cost justification for new systems.

Specific Accountabilities:

1 - Ensure that the tasks are accomplished and that the specific goals of the section will be met according to the overall department and/or project plans. Also responsible for quality control and adherence to Corporate standards.

2 - Determine if user requests are valid and feasible, take appropriate action to ensure completion in a timely fashion, and act as a liaison between the key users and the programmers.

3 - Maintain strong knowledge of plant/divisional financial and distribution processes.

4 - Maintain state-of-the-art functional and technical expertise in current and future trends in the area of financial and distribution systems in a manufacturing environment.

5 - Prepare and maintain a monthly log of all the issues regarding the Financial and Distribution systems.

6 - Analyze and develop detailed designs for enhancements and interfaces to new and existing systems. Also gathers the information to prepare cost justification and feasibility analysis.

7 - Maintain constant communications with the Corporate financial help desk, the Divisional IT staff and external consultants.

8 - Analyze, prioritize and monitor enhancement and modification requests on existing systems in cooperation with Corporate and Division IT and user staff.

Background and Experience:

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Business Administration. Ability to communicate effectively with user management and key system users.
Knowledge of accounting principles in a manufacturing environment. (AP/AR/GL, etc.)
Familiarity with Financial and Distribution Software Package evaluation, selection and implementation.
Minimum of 3 -5 years experience in systems development and implementation using methodology and standards.
