Oacle 7.1.5.2.3 and Developer 1.1 - Compatible?

We have an application developed using Oracle Forms 4.5.6.3.3.

This application is used against Oracle 7.1.5.2.3 and also Oracle 7.1.6.2.0.

One of the forms in this application has a long column. If I try to enter data into this item when it is empty, Oracle Forms hangs up and we are forced to end the task. This happens only when I use the application against Oracle 7.1.5.2.3. But works fine with the other database.

I could not figure out what the problem may be? Any help would be appreciated.
