In one seminarium (designing of a demanding db environment & SQL) a specialist told that using clustering is wise, but he did not know Oracle! Usually clusters help by keeping together needed data close each other, so for example sequence and full table scans should be quicker (read: disk buffering). The special problen is just Oracles way to implement the cluster. The same problem occurs also on hashing! Oracle is NOT standard! (not at least on sql -92).

I suppose you must create your own metrics, it means do your own benchamrks. Measure before and after.
