Sigh...Mixing up the environment is absolutely safe and desirable. Using a less than top-end tool *would* prove disastrous. I have a reasonably sized system in production using Oracle 7.0/NT and Delphi 2.0. I haven't had so much as a hick-up with it. The users love the system. I am happy with the code. And best of all, I have resold the application to a customer who wants to use a different back end. I was able to point the app to a Sybase product without too much difficulty. I only had to redesign one feature that relied on some features only supported by Oracle.

I find it hard to believe that any tool, Delphi and Oracle*Forms included, would be flawless. However, to suggest that Delphi is less than top-end is not accurate, given that the original post did not spell out any specific requirements.

My $.02 worth.
