Let me clarify my statement a little.

I can get my package to compile when I execute the SQL script that uses CREATE OR REPLACE, but when I issue ALTER PACKAGE <name> COMPILE BODY, Oracle Truncates the package. Since we only execute the create script when additions have been made, and considering the overall number of packages that we have, it is a hassle not to be able to just recompile packages that are invalid.

The folks at Oracle cannot tell me why this happens, but they did tell me that
package compilation seems to get flaky when they approach the 100K mark.
