search for the file "tnsnames.ora" at the server. look at an example in this directory which helps u 2 set this file. oracle look for all the sid u told him in this file, and translate the connect string u gave him (like "NY") to a full connect string (like "T:122.113.1.10:newyrk"). u must configure this file.
