Need image advice for CAD database

I have a CAD database and want to integrate the images into my Oracle database. I just got the web server 1.0 running on 7.3. It seems to work pretty good. I need to store CAD images on the machine for WEB access. I don't know if I should store the images directly in the table as a long raw field, or just a URL link to the file. I would rather put all of the images into the oracle table, but I don't see any examples on how to store gif files into the Long Raw datatype. Also, using web server 1.0 from oracle, can I output the image on the fly when requested. If anyone has any experience with images and Long Raw, I would love some example source code, or perhaps some references.
