: How do I go about moving Oracle Database from one computer to another
I'm about to do the same. I have some ideas on how to approach this, but would appreciate it if someone can confirm/correct me.
: Should I create new cntl files and if so how ???
I don't think so. Well, at least I'm not planning to create a new one. I'm just going to shutdown the database, do an image backup of the files (redo, control, etc) and STARTUP MOUNT, rename files to new destination then ALTER DATABASE OPEN .
We must also change SQL*Net listeners and alias, but that should be pretty simple.
I hope that's all.
Leng.
