Automatically loading Current Date with SQL Loader?

I am trying to load a data file using SQL Loader. The last field is not part of the data file and is a date field which I want to be the current date. In my control file, I put

input_date SYSDATE

This puts the date and time of each commit point. This then requires all queries to trunc the date to do a restrict on it. I only want to load just the date and zero out the time or better yet, truncate it. I have tried

input_date TRUNC(SYSDATE)

and this did not work either.

Any ideas?
