If the rows in a multi-row block do not wrap, large two-dimensional items (such as images, radio groups, item groups, text lists, OLE and VBX controls, and multi-line
text items) can waste space on the page or popup. To use space efficiently, you can specify the Generator is to put large items in single areas. Each single area
contains one instance of an item, regardless of the number of rows in the block. As the current record changes, the content of items in single areas is changed
accordingly.
The Generator creates such single areas only if the tallest single area candidate is taller than the tallest non-single area candidate object. This ensures that single
areas are created only when doing so saves space. A block can contain multiple single areas. The only restriction is that at least one item is not a single area.
The default action is that if a block consists of single line rows, any item with a height greater than one line is considered as a candidate for a single area. Provided
that the layout will derive some benefit, (defined as containing an item whose height is at most half that of the single area), the candidate single areas are laid out as
single areas.

In general, any two dimensional objects (such as images, radio groups, item groups, text lists, OLE and VBX controls and multi-line text items) are likely candidates
for single areas.
Three preferences control the behavior of single areas:

· SARCHT specifies single area cutoff height
· SARENB enables creation of single areas for multi-row blocks
· SARLIM limits rows within highest single area

Using item level preferences, SARCHT can be used to individually select or reject items as candidates for a single area. Received on Tue Apr 02 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
