PC client can't find UNIX server

I'm trying to set up a small database on a Digital UNIX 3.2 server, running Oracle 7.2. I've got clients running on WinNT Server 3.5. I've set up a network definition file with the Oracle Network Manager, but no matter what sorts of things I try, the PC can't find the Oracle server.
Can anyone who's done this drop me some mail with some hints? I can go into more detail if anyone is interested.
