There is a significant market in SAP Consultancy and the Courses provided by SAP and others, so your chances of finding books on the subject are going to be rather slim.

BTW the programming language for SAP is called ABAP and to echo what another respondent wrote, you are better off trying to find work in a company which uses SAP and picking up training there. If you get the choice, aim for one using SAP R/3 instead of R/2, its predecessor.

However, be aware the courses are expensive, so a Company will probably want a suitable commitment from you to protect the money it will have to invest in your training.

If you wish to follow news items, there is a ListServ for ABAP:

"SAP-R3-L" <SAP-R3-L_at_MITVMA.MIT.EDU> which covers both R/2 & R/3, though you might find the discussions somewhat 'unintelligible' unless you have some background in SAP or access to a SAP system.

SAP's home page is: http://www.sap.com (a USA mirror)

In spite of the fact that ABAP verbs are all 'English' and you will often be told you don't need to know any German to program in ABAP, experience shows that knowing it will give you an 'edge' in understanding comments and acronyms found in the SAP-supplied ABAPs.

So it won't hurt to find yourself a german/austrian/swiss-german girl-friend! :-)
