Hi Johnny
When I took my DBA courses at Oracle, they suggested to me that Optimally configured servers have arrays of 18- 22 disks. Building on what you have drawn out, it would be similar to this:
Disk 1 - Oracle executables
Disk 2 - System tablespace
Disk 3 - Tools tablespace
Disk 4 - Export dump file
Copy of control file
Disk 5 - Data
Disk 6 - Redo log files
Disk 7 - Temporary tablespace
User tablespace
Disk 8 - Indexes
Disk 9 - Rollback segments
Disk 10 - Archived redo log files
Copy of control file
Disk 11 - Master Control file
The setup that you described above is close enough to what our instructor described for a minimally configured server. with the exception of redo log files and multiple copies of the control files. You might get a performance hit with disk IO on your Disk 1 setup.
