If in MS-Windoze check what else is running. For instance, I'm in a Netware environment running Landesk. I can not run shared agent when running Landesk's metering stuff (meterwin.dll) without a Gates Production Friend (GPF). Thus I have to comment out lines in my win.ini, run Shared agent, uncomment lines and re-start windows. Useful, eh?
