Yeah, Delphi can do those things too. It is totally object-oriented and that's one of the reasons why its so extensible yet saves you from totally re-inventing the wheel. What I really like the most is that it has a handful of visual and non-visual objects that give you extreme flexibility with minimal hand coding to access databases. I also am fond of the local Interbase server which lets you simulate accessing a remote SQL server.
