I'm affraid you'll have to resort to the operating system to delete the extra blanks at the end of the lines....
I bumped into the same kind of problem (on Open/VMS) and I had to use the OS to process the spooled file (with the F$EDIT(..., "TRIM") lexical function) in order to suit my needs...
