When using ODBC against Oracle or a similar RDBMS, make sure your Access queries are pass-through queries. By default, they are not. What this means is all of the table data is transferred from the RDBMS down to the client PC, and then joined and sorted through. This can be pretty inefficient, as you can imagine.
