You don't mention what platform you're on, but depending on whether you can use shared libraries or not you may be stuck.

If you can't use shared libs, make sure that Oracle is only linking with the libraries it needs. However, they did combine a lot of libs together making even the simplest programs huge (on HP/UX, we have several that went from 200-400k to 1.5MB and higher).
