Eileen, if you're using the makefiles distributed with the kit and *not* getting errors due to missing libraries, something is wrong with your installation. I would suggest you reinstall sqlnet, since this causes everything to be rebuilt and relinked.

All of the programs on the interface kit are either Pro*C or OCI programs. If you have not successfully built these types of programs on your machine before, you should try building some of the demo applications in ?/rdbms/demo and ?/proc/demo first. This is especially true when porting to a new platform or new release of Oracle7, since the libraries and link command-lines often differ. However, both OCI and Pro*C are very portable and should compile fairly effortlessly on any platform supported by Oracle -- ranging from MVS to Windows.

The kit was put together in the same environment that you're using, so I really think your Oracle libraries have been incorrectly installed somehow.
