To a large extent, we normally use rule based optimization. I haven't experimented with 7.1 yet, but at least in 7.0, we were pretty consistently able to beat the cost-based optimizer by tuning our queries by hand and using rule-based optimization (actually, it was more like hand-optimization).

Does anyone know if the 7.1 cost-based optimizer works any better than the 7.0 version? Received on Wed Jun 14 1995 - 00:00:00 CEST
