Tad,

it sounds like your default database did not get created correctly. Take a log at your install log files.

Also the end-of-file on communication channel is sometime an SQL*Net error.

My best guess is that something went wrong early in the install and that is causing multiple other errors.

If you have Oracle support call in with a production system down. They have usually been able to help me in the past, if I scream loud enough.
