Several leading industry analysts have distributed reports on 3-tier architecture and next generation development tools, such as Hurwitz.

There is some confusion created by vendors that position TP monitors and stored procedures as "application partitioning" which is the basis of the 3-tier architecture. The purpose of this architecture is to seperate the presentation, logic and data management layers to minimize the resources on the desktop and to provide scalability and managability.

I won't advertise, but Informix has a sound strategy for delivering this in the next release of our NewEra development tools.
