I am new to Oracle and have to make ver6 ProC code ver & complient. From what I understand that involves removing or's when ever there is an outer join. The code I was given is written in Pro C, is ugly, very long, and is not dynamic. I was hoping for a quick work around so I don't have to spend a week converting to dynamic SQL. ( Besides my sad lack of experence with ProC and SQL in general ). I was shown the DECODE function which will work in an outer-join situation ( with difficulty and tricks ) can be used to replace many of the OR occurances - unfortunately there are times i can't be tricky enough for it to work, and I wouldn't imagine using LIKE in the queries this much can be efficient.

P.S. Why was this changed in Ver7?

I don't read this group often, and if you can help, please drop me e-mail Thanks in advance,
