I highly recommend using the new Oracle OLE Objects product that Oracle is selling as your connecitivity from VB to Oracle. It does not require ODBC and should provide superior reponse and allow you to take advantage of more Oracle specific features. Only do this if you don't need portability to other databases. I have used both ODBC and the Oracle Objects for OLE and have been quite pleased with the Oracle Objects for OLE and their VBX control.
