Any comments on how to migrate our Forms V3.0 systems to a platform that can run Forms V4 apps will be appreciated.

We currently run SQL*Forms V3 on an IBM MVS mainframe and _MUST_ convert to a different platform like MS-Windows. The Forms 4 run-time will (unlike Unix) never be ported to the mainframe and Forms 3 will be de-supported on MVS by 1 Jan '98.

Some of our concerns:

  1. Return on existing investment in Forms 3
  2. Replacement of 3270 terminals with PC's
  3. Increased client/server network traffic (block mode vs char/bit mode)
  4. Our Forms apps integrate with native IBM products like CICS and searchmanager
  5. Lost of control: software replication (How to keep the Forms in step with the database structures)

Cheers
Frank
