Pardon my ignorance, but I am not a database person much less an Oracle person...however here is a scenario that I am dealing with and need any help..

I am writing an UNIX application which needs to access an Oracle 7 database which may be residing somewhere on the network ( could have Novell and/or TCP/IP connection ). The Oracle server could be running on a non-Unix platform (NT may be). Now the question is What do I need to do what I want to do here ?? I believe I need to run some driver ( maybe ODBC ) on my Unix box or something similiar..If I do need ODBC, well where I can get/buy it from..or there are some other ways to address this problem (SQL*Net ??)....Also, I would like to minimize the requirement for additional products however, need good performance ( I believe ODBC fails in performance)..

I would appreciate any help in this regard. If it is not much of a problem, send me e-mail at "rraman_at_ccmail.com"

Thanks,
